This ministry facilitates the collection and distribution of foods and other necessities to those in need. The focus is on the poor, the widows, the orphans, the homeless and refugees. Together we can do more and have a great impact on our city!

In 2011, we launched our Compassion Ministry because we believe that it is our mandate to impact our city through touching and changing lives with:
1. Hospital Ministry
It was exciting to see our Hospital Ministry led by Carol, expand in its members. Due to this growth, Carol now has two teams: one at Ethekwini Hospital, and another at King Edward Hospital. Our dream is to provide many teams to various hospitals in the city to pray for, encourage and bring love and hope into the lives of the sick.
2. Ithemba Lethu
Nox had many people volunteering at Ithemba Lethu orphanage, in which they bathed, played with and brought love and laughter to the lives of many babies. This orphanage is dedicated to changing these babies’ lives. This they do through providing a stable home environment filled with love. They always need volunteers to assist in playing with and taking care of the babies, under the supervision of the house mothers.
3. Social Justice
In Social Justice, the aim is to create awareness of some injustices that are happening in and around our country.
Last year we brought some issues before the church in which we prayed and petitioned. An example of these was joining in with many churches around the country in boycotting ETV for a period of time in order to stand against the Naked news, pornographic movies and advertisements on this channel. As a result, the pornographic movies were stopped.
We also had a Social Justice evening in which we had guest speakers, Doctor Peter Hammond from Africa Christian Action, and Mrs Natalie Ogden from RedLight Anti-Human Trafficking. These speakers informed us on the injustices happening around us, and lit a passion in our hearts to stand up against these things and act!
We have also decided to partner with RedLight ministry, both financially and in service. This ministry goes out 1 night a week and ministers to the sex workers on the streets. We will be joining them on some occasions in this amazing work that they are doing! We are also trusting that God will expand our ministry of Social Justice to even greater levels this year. Please put your name down at the info desk if you have not previously done so or speak to Colleen if you would like to get involved.
4. Outreach to the Poor:
With regards the Poor Outreach, on the last Sunday of each month, we collect non-perishable food and toiletry items, in order to bless people in need. Towards the end of last year, we had an outreach to Mamsotho (an informal settlement in Claire Estate). We took the grocery items that had been provided by you, the church, in order to bless these families, and pray with them as well. We were as encouraged and touched by them, as they were by us! We plan to do this again a few times this year! We are also trusting to get more involved with many more projects in this area of ministry this year.
Due to the number of exciting developments in this ministry we have decided to create a newsletter which will have all the latest information and updates about the Compassion Ministry. Should you wish to receive this communication, please give us your email address. We will also be continuing with our monthly prayer meetings on a Sunday after church in order to allow for God’s guidance in our ministries and outreaches.
Thank you to all who made this ministry such a blessing to others. If you would like to get involved in any of the above ministries this year, please sign up at the info desk and remember to give us your email address.
